Tridentine Mass
Tridentine Mass, 1941, Our Lady of Sorrows Basilica
This is a Tridentine Mass that was filmed on Easter, 1941 at Our Lady of Sorrows Basilica, one month before Fr. Peter Rookey was ordained a priest on this very altar. The chief celebrant of this Mass was Fr. James Mary Keane. He traveled to County Tyrone, Northern Ireland in 1948 along with Fr. Peter to establish a Servite community in Benburb. Fr. Peter later became the prior of the community in 1950 and served there until 1953. This is a very beautiful Latin Mass and is narrated by Bishop Fulton Sheen who is now up for sainthood in the Catholic Church.
